Guido Andrade, young promise that was a unanimity on Brazil’s u15, left the club from Vila Belmiro this week and has already joined Bahia
Born in Salvador, Bahia’s capital, the youngster decided to get back to its origins but it is curious that he will not defend Vitória, the club where he gave his first steps. Bahia is, in fact, Vitória’s biggest rival.
Guido’s contract with Santos would end up in the middle of this year, but as asked by the player, the club decided to antecipate the end of the deal. The same situation that happened to, once in Tottenham’s sight, Bruno Lamas.
Everything points out that Guido’s decision was motivated because of lack of opportunities.
“I couldn’t see any development perspectives in Santos and decided to believe in my potential”, said the keeper. “I want to turn all this potential in hard work and then show for those who believed in me that they were not wrong”.
If in Santos the competition was high, with Gabriel Gasparotto, starter on Copa São Paulo 2013 title, playing in Bahia will not be much different. Beyond Guido, the club from Salvador also has Douglas Pires, born in 1991, former Cruzeiro and Brazil’s goalkeeper in the last Pan-Americano, and Renan, the best goalkeeper in Copa São Paulo.
The youngster was a unanimity in Brazi’s u15, but the same didn’t happen in the transition to the u17. Instead of counting on Guido and Jairo (this one from São Paul0) that were used to the yellow shirt (gray or green for the keepers), coach Émerson Ávila decided to give a chance to Charles and Uilson, from Cruzeiro and Atlético-MG.
His bet wasn’t good at all. Both were much contested on South-American u17 2011, despite Brazil’s fourth consecutive title. For the World Cup u17 he tryed Matheus, from Atlético Paranaense and Jaccson, from Internacional, beyond calling Charles again. After a training period he decided to call off Matheus and take Uilson again.
About his relutance on calling Guido up, coach Émerson Ávila said that he was warned that Guido has a medical condition, related to breeding, that don’t allow him to play at big heights, where the tournament would take part. Guido said that is not true. He suffered from this years ago, but that was past. In responde, the keeper played with Santos at México, at some height and was chosen the best goalkeeper in the tournament.
For Santos Guido was part os Copa São Paulo latest title, in the beginning of the year, also chosen best keeper in Copa 2nd of July, 2010, and Friendship Cup, in México, 2011. In this year he was also part of São Paulo State u17 and u20 titles.
