Genoa signs with Brazilian record holder for goals in youth level

The Italian side will soon officially announce the signing of young starlet Bruno Gomes, the 19-year-old striker, once monitored by Man U will be on loan with an option to buy

The Sport Club Internacional, from Porto Alegre, Brazil, might have lost one of the most promising strikers in the world. Bruno Gomes, only 19, will on loan for Genoa. The Italian club have an option to buy the youngster any time for around 4M Euros.

The negotiation, however, almost didn’t happen, due to the paperwork. Inter and Genoa only reached an agreement monday and it was too close to the end of the transfer window. The transfer was filed after the deadline, but as all the documentation was right before it, Fifa accepted it.

The record-holder for goals in Brazil 96 age class, Bruno started well at Internacional. The kid, who is the first and only to reach 85 goals in three years for São Paulo State Championship youth levels and holds the record for three top scorer’ prizes in a row (one in u-15 and to in u-17), scored 23 times in his first 23 games for Internacional.

For the Rio Grande do Sul u-20 State Championship he scored ten goals in nine games. Then, for the u-23 team, seven games, six goals. The great season was crowned with the Brazil’s u-20 cup title, when he scored in the final and was top scorer of the competition with seven goals in seven games.

Despite his great form at the youth team, he didn’t earn a chance in the main team. The lack of opportunities has a reason: Internacional is almost a “hostage” of Sonda Group. Because of that, players who sign with the group have the preference on playing.

Delcir Sonda, who owns the group, has participation on every player introduced to Internacional team, but he don’t have any on Bruno Gomes, because his career is managed by another group: Traffic.

According to sources in Brazil, Bruno Gomes will travel to Italy this saturday and will be officially announced as soon as possible.
